AI emerged as a central theme at MWC 2025, with companies demonstrating its transformative potential across various sectors. 

Google's Gemini AI assistant garnered significant attention, earning the "Innovation in Devices" award for its advanced capabilities in voice assistance and image recognition. 

Samsung introduced AI features in its Galaxy S25 series, enhancing user experience through intelligent functionalities.  Discussions also emphasized the importance of responsible AI development, focusing on ethical considerations and transparency. 

Innovative Device Launches

The congress witnessed a plethora of innovative device unveilings:

  • Xiaomi 15 Ultra: This smartphone stood out for its exceptional camera system, developed in collaboration with Leica, offering a modular optical system that allows the attachment of professional lenses.
  • Huawei Mate XT: As the world's first triple-screen foldable phone, the Mate XT transforms into a tablet-like device, pushing the boundaries of mobile display technology.
  • Lenovo's Innovations: Lenovo showcased a laptop featuring a flexible dual-screen and a solar-powered computer designed for outdoor use, highlighting the trend towards versatile and sustainable computing solutions. 

Advancements in Connectivity and Infrastructure

The evolution of 5G networks was a focal point, with discussions paving the way for future 6G developments. Nokia presented advancements in AI-driven radio access networks (AI-RAN), emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing telecommunications infrastructure. Additionally, major European telecommunications companies called for regulatory reforms to boost competitiveness and drive investment in new technologies.

Emerging Technologies and Concepts

Several cutting-edge concepts captured attention:

  • Smart Contact Lenses: Start-up Xpanceo is developing smart contact lenses that integrate augmented reality and health data analysis, representing a leap forward in wearable technology. 
  • AR Glasses: TCL introduced the RayNeo X3 Pro augmented reality glasses with integrated cameras, offering new possibilities for immersive experiences
  • Assistance Robots: Eurecat unveiled "Jana," a social care robot capable of recognizing faces and analyzing environments to facilitate communication in clinical settings, demonstrating AI's potential in healthcare

Sustainability Initiatives

Sustainability was a key theme, with Mobile World Capital Barcelona and CaixaBank exploring the potential of data computing and AI to promote more sustainable consumption. An interactive experience allowed users to calculate their personal carbon footprint and receive personalized recommendations to adopt more environmentally friendly habits.
